A kitchen faucet is flow × minutes of open tap. Many aerators are about 1.5–2.2 gallons per minute. The expensive kitchen habit is not filling a pot. It is washing dishes with the tap left open, thawing food under a running stream, or a drip that never got a washer.
A pot of pasta water is a known gallon or two. Ten minutes of “I’ll just leave it running while I scrape” is a shower-sized event at the sink.
Bathroom faucets are a similar idea on another card. A leak that continues after you walk away belongs on Leak / drip so it can run 24 hours in the estimate.
Set flow and minutes of use per day. Use Leak / drip for a tap that never fully seats.
At 5.00 per 1,000 gallons, 1.8 gpm for 8 minutes a day is 14.4 gallons — about 0.07 a day, about 2.20 a month. Double the minutes and you doubled that line. That is the whole trick.
