A range burner is a surface element. High on a large coil or radiant ring can be 1,500–3,000 watts. Low simmer is a fraction of that. The cost is almost entirely how long a burner stays on high versus how long dinner actually needed it.
Two burners at once add. A griddle that covers two zones is two zones. Induction still uses real watts; it is often faster to the pan, which can mean fewer minutes, not zero energy.
The oven below the cooktop is a separate card in Whatt. Do not double-count a roast as “the range.”
Set the burner size and minutes. Fine-tune watts if you know the element rating from the label.
At 18.8¢ per kWh, a 2,000-watt burner for 30 minutes is about 0.19. An hour of a large element on high is about 0.38. Small compared with central heat or AC, easy to see on a week of long sautés.
If the cooktop is gas, this is the wrong card. Use Gas stove so the heat is fuel in the total, not a 40-watt igniter pretending to cook dinner.
