The washer’s electric cost is usually the motor, controls, and — on many machines — a water heater inside the cabinet. It is almost always smaller than the dryer on the same laundry day. People mix the two bills together. Whatt splits them: this page is power; gallons are on the washer water card.
A typical modern washer motor is a few hundred watts during agitation and spin. If the machine heats water electrically, that heating step can dwarf the motor for a hot cycle. Cold-wash motor-only loads stay cheap. Hot sanitary cycles do not.
Spin speed does not change gallons, but it changes how long the dryer has to run next. A weak spin is a dryer problem wearing a washer costume.
Open the power card for watts and cycle time. Open the water card for gallons per load. Save both to My Home if you want one laundry total.
At 18.8¢ per kWh, a 500-watt motor for 45 minutes is about 0.07. If an internal heater adds 2,000 watts for 20 minutes, that heating step is about 0.13 more. The dryer after it is still the larger electric line for most homes.
Hot vs cold
Cold wash is mostly the motor. Hot or sanitize can fire an internal heater of a couple of thousand watts. If the house water heater already made the water hot, that energy sits on the water-heater card, not here.
